Artist in residence in Rajasthan
The healing powers of nature is the central theme in the body of work of nature artist and plantmedicine woman Mireille Schermer from the Netherlands, containing mostly site specific sustainable installations made out of what is forehand.
Together with life partner and photographer Cor Nelis she was invited to stay and work at Farm studio Andore and she has been working on a special mural in the village of Andore using the Rajasthani tradition of gobar and natural pigments, rethinking the possibilities of cowdung and reconnecting with nature’s healing powers.
Not only the dung provides a healthy ambiance with its antifungal, antibacterial and breathing capacities, so does the banyan tree providing oxygen and new energy.
The holy connection is reflected in the use of the holy cowdung, the holy banyan, presented as a natural temple to gather around and leave a small offer, and the Bhudi mudra for water and purity hidden in the leafs.
